Hello, everyone, I hope you all enjoyed/are enjoying your hoildays! I'm so glad that I've discovered this community! I definitely planning on getting an MLS degree after I finish my Bachelor's (May 2014). I'm kind of just looking to situate myself into the librarian community in some way, so that's the main objective of this post.
Some background info: My major is English (which seems to be quite common, really), my GPA is about 3.37 (3.6 in my major courses), and currently work as a lowly page at a public library.
I'm looking at a few programs: Syracuse University (which, even though expensive, seems to stress practical experience), the two University of Wisconsin schools in Madison and Milwaukee, and my in-state option of IU Bloomington. IU, to be honest, as everything that I'm looking for (including several dual-degree options). I'm looking to specialize in art librarianship and they have a specialization for that, as well. The only problem is that I've been looking to leave Indiana (I'm ready for a change), and going to IU would mean staying here for at least an extra year. At 26, feel as if I'm getting a bit of a late start when it comes to getting by Bachelor's degree, which is why want to start immediately after I graduate.
I just want general opinions from you all, seeing as we're all going in the direction of library school (or have already gone). Thank you!
